Welcome to the 14th Winchester Scout Group, which covers the area to the northeast of Winchester in Hampshire.
We have about 120 children in our Group, who live in the villages surrounding Sutton Scotney, South Wonston, Worthy Down, Micheldever, Wonston, Barton Stacey and beyond. There are two Beaver colonies (6-8), two Cub packs (8-10½) and two Scout troops (10½-14).
Meetings happen once a week, in term time, with occasional weekend activities such as organised runs, campsite stays or parades (like on St George’s Day). We’ve even stayed overnight at the Winchester Science Centre.
The aim is for the meetings to be safe, fun and structured around the Scouting programme, which involves taking part in planned activities to earn badges over the weeks and months.
Meetings take place in Sutton Scotney, South Wonston or the Worthy Down area, but we also believe it’s important to get out and about as much as possible – so evening meetings can sometimes be held at places like the Pinsent Campsite in Winchester or sometimes museums or other interesting places.
To find out what we have been up to recently, have a look at our 2022 Annual Report.
Our adults have fun too! Join as a Leader or Section Assistant and help out occasionally during the evenings, or perhaps support the administration behind the scenes. There’s plenty on offer, whatever your skills and interests. Find out more at https://www.scouts.org.uk/volunteers/learning-development-and-awards/training
